Working at Crossfield

A support team in west Houston. Writing down what you did is part of doing it.

The work

What the job actually involves

You will log every change. Including the small ones, the ones made during other work, and the ones nobody asked for. It takes a few minutes each time and it is not optional.

You will log your own mistakes. An error you made and corrected goes into the record with the same detail as everything else, on the same day. Nobody is disciplined for an entry in the change log.

You will work under your own account. No shared credentials, which means your work is attributable to you, for better and for worse.

You will recommend leaving things alone. Where a risk does not justify the cost of fixing it, saying so is expected and is not a failure of ambition.

There are no ticket or closure-rate targets. Volume measures nothing useful and would work directly against the documentation standard.

Hiring

How we recruit

The salary range is in the advertisement. You will not spend three interviews discovering the role pays less than you need.

There is no take-home exercise. Technical assessment happens in the interview, takes under an hour, and is not work we would otherwise pay for.

We describe the unglamorous parts honestly. A material share of this job is documentation, and applicants who dislike writing things down will not enjoy it here.

Every application receives a reply, including unsuccessful ones, within two weeks of the closing date.
